Concours on Savile Row revving up tomorrow

The 2024 edition of Concours on Savile Row, London’s most stylish car concours, opens in two days time and runs from Wednesday the 22nd to Thursday the 23rd of May.

The 2023 edition drew more than 12,000 visitors to the famous bespoke tailoring street, with more than 40 cars and motorcycles on display from manufacturers and private collectors.

The third edition exceeds this with 45-plus cars and motorbikes on show, including an Everrati Porsche 964, a 1961 Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spyder, and a 2024 Koenigsegg Jesko.

Motorbikes from Kawasaki, Royal Enfield, Triumph, Zero Motorcycles and BMW Motorrad will be present, including two fully electric bikes, the SRX Concept and CE-02.

H. Huntsman & Sons and Hagerty Insurance are presenting a unique insight into a rock legend - Charlie Watts’ 1939 Lagonda LG6 Rapide will be exhibited on the famous street outside Huntsman, while his suits will be on display inside the tailors. In addition, a personal discussion about Watts will take place in the Huntsman lounge hosted by renowned automotive expert Simon Taylor, along with Dario Carnera, Head Cutter at Huntsman, and Paul Sexton, author of the official Charlie Watts biography.

Henry Poole & Co will host two Mercedes-Benz cars, a 1920 Benz Spyder and an S580 Guard, complemented by talks on the luxury car brand and Savile Row Gin tasting.

The fuselage of Spitfire AA810, the only surviving aircraft linked to any of those involved in the infamous Great Escape, will be exhibited in Gieves and Hawkes along with a 3D printed model of the Merlin engine that will go into the restored aircraft.

Luxury cloth merchant and cloth weaver Holland & Sherry is partnering with Austin Pedal Cars to present an exclusive Austin J40 Continuation Holland & Sherry Edition pedal car. Designed and built exclusively for the 2024 Concours on Savile Row, this diminutive Austin features a Holland & Sherry interior using a cloth especially designed for the very special, one-off machine.

Norton & Sons will be showcasing PPE101 (a Jaguar XK120) alongside a racing kit they have designed and made for the car's participation in the Mille Miglia 2024. PPE was owned and raced by Walter Grant-Norton, great-grandson to the founder of Norton & Sons.

There will be two seminars sponsored by leading tax and advisory firm Blick Rothenberg at The Royal Academy of Arts Lecture Theatre: ‘Restoration and Preservation - How Tailors, the Automotive Market, and the Art World Approach Sustainability’ on the 22nd of May and ‘The Future of Fuels: The Road to Zero Emissions’ on the 23rd of May. The moderator for both will be motorsports journalist Simon Taylor.

The CALLUM Skye will have its first public appearance at the concours on the 23rd of May. Richard Charlesworth will discuss the car and interview Ian Callum. Designed and engineered to be exhilarating and rewarding on-road, the all-electric, all-wheel-drive CALLUM Skye is exceedingly capable off-road, underpinned by a durable technical specification at its core.

Also, Bennett Winch will present David Gandy’s Jaguar X120; and J.P. Hackett will have a Formula E simulator along with showcasing new collections and whiskey tasting with Jenson Button’s Whisky brand, Coachbuilt.
