THE STORY
At the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari unveiled the new 599 GTB Fiorano, which was positioned to be the successor to the popular, front-engine 575M Maranello. Styled by Ken Okuyama at Pininfarina, the 599 GTB was designed to be a front-engine, grand-touring car that combined one of Ferrari’s most powerful engines with advanced aerodynamics, new materials and an impressively high level of technology to yield the most advanced Ferrari GT ever built.

The first Ferrari production car to feature an aluminum chassis, the 599 GTB was powered by a normally aspirated 6.0L (5999cc) Tipo F140C V-12 engine capable of producing 612 HP, which made it the most powerful production Ferrari GT car up to that point. This record-setting power was fed through either a 6-speed manual transmission or Ferrari’s F1 Superfast semi-automatic 6-speed transmission, which could enact a gear change in just 100 milliseconds. With record setting power and torque combined with a lightweight (3,922-pound) body with aerodynamic undertray, venturi tunnels and downforce generating C-pillars, the 599 GTB was capable of a 0-62 MPH time of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 205 MPH.

Then, in 2010, Ferrari announced a limited run of GTO-specification 599s that would receive an even more powerful 661 HP engine mated with the 6-speed semi-automatic gearbox and exhaust system from the 599XX track car. The result was the then-fastest road-going Ferrari to ever lap the Fiorano test track. This 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO is one of just 599 examples ever built. Finished in white with blue racing stripes over a beige leather interior, this extremely rare and collectable Ferrari is powered by the 6.0L V-12 engine and automatic transmission and equipped with bucket seats, quad exhaust tips, silver brake calipers, alloy wheels and the Scuderia shields.
