Gene Lee wins for Team Modena

Super CJ Series Korea - Team Modena debut win!

Team Modena's driver Gene Lee in Korea put in a superb performance in the Team Modena SGLC WTCC BMW 320i to win at Yongin Everland Speedway. Gene has had a turbulent year - including being the victim of an accident which wrote off his racecar earlier on the year. A terrific effort by the Team Modena SGLC team saw the car rebuilt and ready for this weekend's races. Tyre issues have also plagued the Team and this was the first weekend that the Team ran current spec Michelins. The results speak for themselves with Gene recording a fabulous maiden win for the Team in this series - Gene's report below:

Qualifying1.  Kixx Prime 0'56.1822.  Kixx Prime 0'56.8403.  Modena-SGLC 0'56.854

"We tried something new with the tires which did not work and dropped us down the grid.  In practice, we were doing the same laptimes as the GT1 spec Lexus.Race 1We finished in 3rd place.  For the first part of the race, the top three cars were racing bumper to bumper until we got to the backmarkers.  The backmarkers let the two Lexus cars past but did not see us 'third car' and blocked us heavily on each lap.  I was forced onto the grass numerous times and also hit in the side by a backmarker.  This dropped us back further behind the two Lexus cars and we finished third.*We did get fastest lap.Race 2We started the race in 3rd place and WON.  First race with for Team Modena SGLC.  We had the pace this race after we did the mandatory pitstop for new tires.  Our team mechanics did a fantastic job to get me out ahead of the Lexus GT1 spec car.  From there, we controlled the race and ended up 13seconds ahead of the GT1 car.  However, we missed out on fastest lap for this race."
