Wanna play at all the big events with a toy which represents a blue chip investment? Edmond Harris has a 1966  Porsche 911 2.0 for sale - winner of the 1967 European Touring car championship grp 2.

Anyway the story gives us an opportunity to mention the fact that Edmond Harris now has a search feature on his parts section - probably the biggest dealer of genuine RS/RSR/ST exotic Porsche race parts - for more information - click on the link below to his site.

Information on the car from Edmond Harris - car is POA - suspect it it's provenance/event eligibility etc mean that it's gonna be a few quid!

Chassis No 303515 was ordered and constructed at the Porsche factory in 1966 for long time Porsche family friend, Karl Von Wendt and to campaign the 1967 European Championship in Grp 2 ‘ Special Touring car’ with Factory driver Gerhard Mitter as co-driver.

Von Wendt went on to, among others, win at Monza and the Nurburgring, finish 4th at Oulton Park and 2nd at the GP von Budapest, taking the European championship honours.

In the last race, co driven by Gerhard Mitter, at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the car was the 1st ever in it's class to complete a lap in under 10 minutes (9.57). Unfortunately Mitter crashed the car giving it it’s first and last DNF. The car returned to Von Wendt's castle where it remained untouched until 1983 when it was purchased by former works driver Willi Kauhsen.

Restored in the late 1990's for historic motor racing, the car has competed in events such as the Gentleman Drivers and the Le Mans Legends prior to the 24hr race. This year the car has had great success at the Silverstone Historic races, finishing 1st in class, and in the Fordwater Trophy at the Goodwood Revival meeting where it finished ahead of all other Porsche including the 904GTS.

The car is race ready and complete with current FIA papers. Set up for racing it is complete with full roll cage and race seats. For the collector, it can also be supplied with original factory period correct roll hoop and original Recaro bucket seats.

In excellent condition throughout, the car represents not only a great historic racer with proven success, but also a fine investment as one of the original Porsche championship winning cars.
