ADAC GERMAN GT MASTERS - HOCKENHEIM – 13/14 OCTOBER 2007

APEX EXTEND LEARNING CURVE WITH THE JAGUAR XKR GT3

Car 65:         Jaguar XKR GT3                  Pierre Kaffer/Michael Neuhoff

The Apex Motorsport Jaguar XKR GT3 took another stepping stone in its path to GT motorsport success yesterday when it achieved its first top ten finish in international competition.

In the hands of former Audi AG factory driver, Pierre Kaffer, and long time Apex Motorsport associate, Mike Neuhoff, the Jaguar was placed 12th and 10th in the final two races of the 2007 ADAC GT Masters series against a highly competitive field.

Having qualified in 24th (Neuhoff) and 15th (Kaffer) for the two one-hour races, the duo showed the new-for-2007 car off to its best advantage, running on Michelin tyres for the first time.

“We achieved our objectives,” said Apex Team Principal Richard Lloyd.  “We firmly believe that GT3 is gathering great momentum worldwide and there was a lot of interest shown in the Jaguar XKR this weekend.  As far as competitiveness is concerned, I think the car is really getting into the zone now and showing more and more of its potential every time it takes to the track.

“We might have finished even better today had Pierre not unfortunately got tangled up in the first corner melée and had Michael not indulged in a couple of spins, but it was all a very useful experience for those involved in the programme.”

The next event for the Jaguar XKR GT3 will be the final round of the FIA GT3 European Championship in Dubai on 17th November.
